Description With its columnar form and gold foliage Gold Cone juniper is an interesting plant for small spaces in the landscape.

  Morphology:
Gold Cone juniper is a slow-growing conifer tree which typically reaches a size of 10’ by 2’ after 10 years. It bears awl-shaped new growth which emerges bright gold in the spring with good color retention during the summer and early fall. The gold coloration gradually fades to bluish-green in winter.

Male and female flowers are on separate plants (dioecious). Female fruits (berry-like cones) of the species are used to flavor gin.

  Adaptation:
Does best on well drained sites which are slightly acidic.
