Description Famous in the Mediterranean landscape, Italian Cypress is best known for its pencil-like form which can be used as an accent specimen in the landscape.

  Morphology:
This is an evergreen species that forms a tall (60’ at maturity) columnar conifer which stays less than 10’ wide. It bears erect branches forming a solid wall of foliage, which is scale-like and dark green in color.

Cones will form on the outside of the foliage. These are about an inch across and ellipsoid in shape.

  Adaptation:
Italian Cypess can be grown on a wide array of soils. They love hot dry climates, but need protection from strong winds in colder climates.

  Pests:
Generally pest free in the Northwest.
