Description Though not common in the nursery trade, the Hinoki Cypress, known as Bronze Pygmy, is one to watch in the winter months as the foliage takes on a remarkable bronze coloration. Very striking especially during the dark days of winter.

  Morphology:
This is slow growing dwarf conifer that will eventually max out a 4-5’ in height and about as wide. Forming a mounded flat topped shrub with age, the branches resemble fans.

  Adaptation:
Find site with cool summers and acidic soils. Under these conditions one can expect some burning during the summer, but the new growth in the spring seems to cover it up.

  Pests:
Pest free.
