Description The crabapple cultivar known as ‘Sentinel’ forms a very upright structure making it an ideal candidate for a confined space or in the median space between the street and the sidewalk.


  Morphology:
This is a small, deciduous garden tree with a narrow vase shape. It can grow to 20’ in height and spread to 12’.

Flowering begins in May and extends for 10 days. The blossoms are deep pink when they first open but fade to white as the show continues.

Flowers morph to small, ½” bright red pomes, which are held into the winter months.

Leaves are yellow-orange in the fall.

  Adaptation:
This cultivar is widely adapted to most soil types. It can withstand wetter ground. Select a site with full sun to ensure the best growth.

  Pests:
This cultivar is nearly free from the ravages of the disease apple scab.
