Description Nikko Deutzia is sold in the ornamental trade for its arching branches which seem to bebsmothered in pure white, fragrant flowers in the spring.

  Morphology:
This is a deciduous shrub that grows to 2’ in height and 5’ in width. It bears leaves which are arranged in an opposite fashion. The leaves are described as having lanceolate shape. Over-all the shrub has a very fine texture, with the arching branches.

Flowering begins in May and lasts for 2 weeks. They are white, and arranged in 3” long inflorescences. Each cluster typically has 5 flowers.

In the fall the leaves yellow before they are shed.

  Adaptation:
This shrub prefers full to partial sun. I does best where the soils is well drained and moist.
